No sooner than I heard the wonderful news that my son and daughter-in-law were expecting, there was a warp on my loom for a baby blanket! I'd been reading Cally Booker's blog about designing with twill blocks and thought this would be an ideal project for my Ashford 8 shaft table loom.....

Hemming my newly woven towels means that I'll have to get to grips with my sewing machine! We are not really the best of friends. In truth, I am a little in awe of it but the more I weave, the more I realise that I need to consider my sewing machine. Help was fortunately at hand...

I'm often asked how new weavers can keep the first and last pick of their work from unravelling without having to tie knots once the item has been removed from the loom. I use a simple hem stitch and I do it while the work is still on the loom...
