Ashford Day 2018

FibreHut ASHFORD DAY on Wed 20th June 2018

James & David enjoyed a wonderful Ashford Day hosted by Ashford dealers Gai and Dave of FibreHut. Over 100 spinning and weaving enthusiasts come from near and far to spend the day learning about all things Ashford. There was spinning and weaving demonstrations, history talks, wheel tune ups and of course the infamous sheepy cakes!

You can read more about this event here

The last time that we held an Ashford day here at FibreHut we were visited by Kate Sherratt (see how that day went! This time we are pleased to welcome the next generation from Ashford handicrafts - James Ashford and David Lester who have flown over from the Ashford factory in New Zealand. They have immersed themselves in the business having had extensive training in textile fibre arts and the manufacturing process. "We couldn't be happier to know that that the future or our family business will be in the capable hands of our sons" say Elizabeth and Richard Ashford.

Demonstrations and talks will be held in our marquee on the green at Boxtrees Farm, Hockley Heath, West Midlands B94 6EA. You can sit back and soak up the talks, ask questions, get a selfie and even bring your own spinning wheel and watch it all from our sit & spin area. If you have a loom bring it along (you'll need your own stand). There will be free Ashford wheel check ups and drive belt changes while-u-wait courtesy of David Herring and of course our customary free FibreHut cakes! The FibreHut shop will stay open all day so there will be plenty of time to treat yourself to some of our gorgeous fibres and stock up on any bits, bobs, spares and accessories you may need. We can also give advice and take orders for any Ashford wheel or loom you want for delivery to your door.
