A bulky, soft luxury bulky fibre with a natural crimp and soft lustre.

Alpaca has been used for 100's of years in woven fabrics and is considered to be a luxury fibre. Can be spun into fine soft yarn or blended very successfully with sheep wool to produce a soft blend. Please note that baby alpaca can be difficult to dye particularly in the darker colours.

What can I use it for?

There are also limitless possibilities for blending baby alpaca with other wool. Can be spun for a fine soft yarn. Use as a luxury addition when wet felting or needle felting. Not really recommended for dyeing as baby alpaca can be difficult to dye particularly in the darker colours. However some lovely effects can be achieved when dyeing as a blended fibre.

How much fibre will I need?

This will depend on how finely you spin plus the size and tension of the final knitted garment. The weights below are a helpful guide but cannot be guaranteed. If you are unsure, always buy a little bit more than you think you'll need (that's what stashes are for!)
