Denim Blue dyed Merino
This is 23mic 64's dyed merino combed wool top
Merino is probably the number one choice for spinning, needle felting, wet felting, dyeing and many other craft uses! Merino has many uses and is regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep. In fact it is so soft that some people with sensitive skin may feel less or no irritation when wearing a merino wool item of clothing.
Dyed using acid dyes which conform with the Oeko-Tex 100 confidence in textiles quality system (tested for harmful substances). They conform to EN 71 which helps to ensure that products produced with this fibre meet certain minimum safety standards.
Monitor settings can affect the product image colours and shades shown. There may also be very slight shade variations from batch to batch due to the nature of natural fibre.
What can I use it for?
A popular choice for spinning on the wheel or drop spindle. Although already dyed you could still over dye many of the lighter colours if you wanted to. Great for wet felting and needle felting. There are also limitless possibilities for blending Merino with other wool or fibres such as silks, flax, bamboo etc.
How much will I need?
This depends on how finely you spin and the size and tension of the final knitted garment. 100g of fibre will always make 100g of yarn but the length will depend on how chunky you spin the yarn. Buy 100g to spin enough yarn for a pair of socks. You'll need about 300g of fibre to spin enough yarn for a shawl or a scarf and 600g should be enough for an average women's sweater. These weights are given as a helpful guide but cannot be guaranteed. If you are unsure always buy a little more than you think you'll need.
Natural, renewable & biodegradable
Wool is 100% natural. Every year sheep produce a new fleece making it a renewable fibre source. At the end of its useful life it can be returned to the soil where it will quickly decompose.
