Flax/linen - bleached

Flax (or linen) is considered to be the oldest fibre used in the western world... ready to spin!

Flax or Linen is considered to be the oldest fibre used in the Western world, with fabrics having been found dating back to 10,000BC. There is an element of prestige with this fibre having a high heritage and sentimental value. Natural flax is a plant fibre. It has a natural sheen and is long and strong. This flax combed top  is ready to spin and does not require retting, breaking, scutching or hackling!

How much fibre will I need?

This will depend on how finely you spin plus the size and tension of the final knitted garment. The weights below are a helpful guide but cannot be guaranteed. If you are unsure, always buy a little bit more than you think you'll need (that's what stashes are for!)
