Sage Green dyed Merino

This is 23mic 64's dyed merino combed wool top

Merino is probably the number one choice for spinning, needle felting, wet felting and dyeing and is regarded as being one of the finest and softest wool of any sheep.

What can I use it for?

A popular choice for spinning on the wheel or drop spindle. Although already dyed you could still over dye many of the lighter colours if you wanted to. Great for wet felting and needle felting. There are also limitless possibilities for blending Merino with other wool or fibres such as silk, flax, bamboo and many more.

How much will I need?

This depends on how finely you spin and the size and tension of the final knitted garment. 100g of fibre will always make 100g of yarn but the length will depend on how chunky you spin the yarn. Buy 100g to spin enough yarn for a pair of socks, about 300g for a shawl or a scarf and 600g for an average women's sweater. These weights are given as a helpful guide but cannot be guaranteed.

To wet felt a medium size handbag you'll need around 300g of fibre but please remember that the wool will shrink by about 33% so plan your sizes accordingly. 100g will go a long way when needle felting and should produce a grapefruit sized mass. Top tip: Use a cheaper core wool to bulk out your shapes.

Our 25g option is ideal for smaller projects, colour matching and sampling. If you are unsure about weights always buy a little more than you think you'll need.

Dyed using acid dyes conforming to the Oeko-Tex 100 confidence in textiles quality system (tested for harmful substances). Also conforms to EN 71 helping to ensure that products produced with this fibre meet certain minimum safety standards. there could be very slight shade variations from batch to batch due to the nature of natural fibre.

Natural & biodegradable

Wool is 100% natural. Every year sheep produce a new fleece making it a renewable fibre source. At the end of its useful life it can be returned to the soil where it will quickly decompose. there could be very slight shade variations from batch to batch due to the nature of natural fibre.
