Silk Diamond Trellis Scarf

Silk Diamond Trellis Scarf

made by me

This scarf uses two skeins of laceweight pure silk that I had in what I refer to as “deep stash” - yarn that I've had a while with no clear purpose just waiting to tell me what it wants to become!

The warp is a hand-dyed skein in greys, pearl and purple that I was gifted from the US; the weft is berry pink from the Natural Dye Studio who are no longer trading. The structure is a twill pattern that incorporates a diamond trellis pattern and a delicate little bell celtic twill – both from Exploring Woven Fabric by Janet Phillips. I re-arranged the numbers a little bit and added a section for overall balance. The selvedges are also sett slightly closer to aid stability. Weaving with silk is a joy – but the beauty is really revealed once the fabric has been washed and pressed.

I love this scarf with it's shine and drape but pink is just not my colour. I think it deserves to be worn and delighted in so I am offering it for sale. It measures 11” wide and is 80” long (not including the twisted fringe) so there's plenty to wrap around or wear it Parisian loop style.
