Our story so far...
My name is Gai and I own and run Fibrehut Limited with my husband Dave from a pretty little rural shop in Hockley Heath, West Midlands. For many years now I have had a passion (more like an obsession!) for all things fibre related and literally spin and weave every day. Like many spinners and weavers I have collected a large stash of fibre and equipment which threatens to take over my house. "You could open a ****** shop with that lot!" was Dave's cry.... so I did!
We took the plunge and opened FibreHut in 2014 and soon became an official ASHFORD UK DEALER. As passionate spinners, weavers and dyers ourselves, we have total confidence in Ashford's wheels, carders & looms and decided that we would pretty much stick to this one major brand. We added lots of other goodies including a gorgeous selection of fibre including our own range of unique fibre blends, our own range of FibreDYE acid milling dyes plus we also started to offer tuition. We soon began to run out of space so eventually we obtained the shop next door as well which gives us much more room.
We now have a major presence online but our retail shop remains busy as people love to come and try before they buy especially with spinning wheels which are a very personal choice. Our classroom is always busy not only with our own tuition but with guest tutors such as Penny Dixon who holds our very popular and fun wet felting classes. We have a great selection of classes plus we hold lots of open days and sit 'n' spins so stay in touch & we'll keep you informed. We have built up relationships with craftsmen like 'Minty' who hand makes our wool combs and the wool picker, and Trevor Blackburn who produces some beautiful hand turned drop spindles and threading hooks.
Back in 2015 we hosted an Ashford big spin and weave day where over 70 enthusiastic spinners, weavers and fibre artists enjoyed a great day with special guest "Kate Sherratt" from Ashford New Zealand. Everyone enjoyed her expert, helpful advice and especially her unique fun filled presentation style! For those of you who don't know, Kate is the sales & marketing manager with Ashford Handicrafts, Ashburton, New Zealand. Read more about this day here
We just love to talk shop so you're always welcome to pop in for a chat! We encourage people to just pop in especially on Saturdays when we all get together for sit and spins to chat, weave, spin and drink tea! If the weather is nice, we put up a gazebo outdoors in the courtyard.
Come and visit our pretty little retail shop in Hockley Heath on the A3400 1 mile south of junction 4 of the M42. There are a few other shops here including Hileys Coffee Shop where you can enjoy drinks and snacks. It's only 4 miles to Henley in Arden, 10 miles to Warwick Castle and around 12 miles to Stratford Upon Avon so come and make a day of it!
If you can't make it don't worry as all of our products are available to buy online!
