  • 40 test strips

To test the pH level (acidity) of the dye bath water, simply dip the end of one strip of test paper into the dye bath for 1 or 2 seconds and remove. Then compare the colour on the test paper with colour chart within 5 seconds of removal. The colour produced will indicate the pH of the solution.

When using our acid dyes you should aim for a reading of 3 or 4 on the pH scale - increase acidity (lower the number) by adding odourless citric acid (or white vinegar). These can also be used for other substances including foodstuff, Aquarium/Water, Urine, Soil etc.

  • 1-3 Indicates a very high Acidic Substance
  • 4-6 Indicates an Acidic Substance
  • 7 Indicates Neutral
  • 8-11 Indicates an Alkaline Substance
  • 12-14 Indicates a very high level of Alkalinity
