Dye easily with this simple all-in-one dye. 25 colours to get creative with. Attractive pastel fashion shades specially formulated for an all-in-one effect on animal fibres such as wool, alpaca, silk & feathers. The addition of chemicals to the dye bath is not normally necessary. Easy to use on the hob or in the microwave using creative techniques including 1 pot, rainbow, Ikat, tie & space dyeing.

How much dye will I need?
- Use 3g of dye per 100g of fibre
- This is the same as 100ml of a 3% stock
The actual quantities of dye required will depend on the dry weight of the fibre and the shade strength required. Dye stock can be stored for later use.
Here's our quick start, 1 pot, 1 colour method:
- Thoroughly dissolve the 30g of dye in 1L of hot water (3% dye stock)
- In a dye bath, stir in 100ml of the dye stock per 100g of fibre
- Add the pre soaked fibre
- Raise the temperature slowly
- Simmer gently for 30 minutes
- Allow to cool before rinsing
- Spin or hang dry.
The dyes are safe to use providing a few basic safety in use rules are observed.

Easy Fibre Dyes are suitable for dyeing all protein(animal) fibres such as wool, alpaca, feathers, silk & also nylon (as long as is it really IS nylon!)
What WON'T it dye?

Not suitable for plant (vegetable) fibres such as cotton, hemp, flax, bamboo, and not acrylics and most other man made fibres.
I often get asked how much fibre would be required for a particular spinning project. I have prepared a guide below which may help you.
For spinning...
100g of fibre will spin 100g of yarn the yardage of which depends on how finely you spin. The weight chart below will also depend on the size and tension of the finished garment.
- 100g - pair of mittens, pair of socks, a hat
- 300g - cushion cover, shawl, long scarf
- 600g - baby blanket, cardigan, ladies sweater
Fibre can be easily mixed and blended and slight shade variations particularly in natural wool (very much in it's nature) are acceptable. If you want to avoid shade variations buy enough fibre to finish your project so that it comes from the same batch. If colour matching or texture is important to you, get a free sample first.
For needle felting...
100 grams of fibre will compress down to a grapefruit sized solid 3D shape (approx).Often felting only requires smaller amounts and a convenient way to buy fibre is in mixed bags and selection packs.

- Take precautions to avoid accidental ingestion, inhalation and skin or eye contact.
- Wear surgical type gloves.
- A full front apron or lab coat is recommended.
- Wear safety spectacles.
- Avoid skin contact - wash off with cold water.
- If dispensing large amounts a face make should be worn.
