Get started with this wonderful spinning wheel - Outstanding value!
With a diameter of 18”, the Prelude is suited to perform in many different speeds/ratios. The Prelude was the first single-drive-only wheel that the Kromski’s produced and features Scotch Tension and a single treadle. The oblique bench links to a built-in lazy kate with a two bobbin capacity. Affordably priced and easy to assemble, the Prelude is a perfect beginners wheel but is occupied by components and attributes sufficient enough for a lifetime wheel.
The Prelude offers quality Kromski craftsmanship plus compact portability to those who want a wheel reminiscent of the antique Saxony style but need the convenience of a small, transportable wheel for events like historical festivals and reenactments.

Before you assemble:
If you plan to wax or stain your wheel, it's best to apply finish before assembly. That way you’ll get even coverage, and you won’t have to wrestle with masking or reaching tight corners.
Caring for your wheel:
A little maintenance goes a long way. Wipe it down occasionally and enjoy how easily it cleans if it’s waxed or lacquered. Need extras or spares, bobbins, a drive band, a niddy noddy? We’ve got those in our online shop. See also our Spinning Wheel Maintenance Guide.
Fun fact:
Each Kromski wheel is hand-signed and dated by its craftsman on the underside - a lovely personal touch from the makers.
