This is 100% natural brown Manx Loaghtan combed wool top from the Isle of Man. This breed was brought back from the edge of extinction in the 1970's. The word 'loaghtan' is Manx for brown. Popular with hand spinners and weavers. Spin it woolen to maximise the fibres natural bounce - spin it worsted for a very durable yarn. Staple lengths: 6 to 13cm and fibre diameters: 27 to 33 microns. Although you can dye it, this natural shade may be too dark.

This item is 100% natural wool. Every year sheep produce a new fleece, making wool a renewable fibre source. FibreHut are official supporters of the campaign for wool.

How much fibre will I need?

This will depend on how finely you spin plus the size and tension of the final knitted garment. The weights below are a helpful guide but cannot be guaranteed. If you are unsure, always buy a little bit more than you think you'll need (that's what stashes are for!)
